Annual
September 7th, 2002
Held annually on the first Saturday following Labor Day Weekend in September!
Our 2002 Celebration was a huge success and fun for everyone. The Celebration began with a community parade, and other events of the day included children's carnival games, live entertainment, outdoor food booths, a raffle, and silent and public auctions. The success of the Celebration was the result of many businesses, organizations and individuals who very generously gave of their time, merchandise and money, combined with lots of hard work on the part of the City staff. All proceeds from the Celebration events and activities, which totaled more than $5,000.00, will be used to staff the Columbia City Community Library. We hope you will join us for our next City Celebration, held annually on the first Saturday following the Labor Day Weekend!
Doris Bateham and Margaret Parker served as the 2002 Grand Marshals.
Congratulations to the following individuals who had the winning raffle tickets:
1st Place - Central Coast Vacation Package - Joyce Beckman
2nd Place - DVD/CD player & remote - Cyndee Starr
3rd Place - Gourmet charcoal smoker & grill - Brian Brame
4th Place - 2002 Celebration T-shirt - Leslie Fuller
We'd like to extend a special thank you to everyone that helped us sell raffle tickets this year. Mabel Pennell and Norm Jones sold the most tickets, and net proceeds from the raffle ticket sales totaled $1,048.94. All proceeds will be used to staff the Columbia City Community Library.
