FEBRUARY 2005

COMING SOON! CURBSIDE YARD DEBRIS SERVICE
Curbside
yard debris service will be available in Columbia City this spring through
Hudson Garbage Service. The target date to deliver the carts to customers is
April 6, 2005. Service will be offered to garbage service customers on a
subscription basis for $5.25 per month. The service will also be available
without garbage service for $8.00 per month. Service will consist of a 95-gallon
cart that is picked up every-other-week (opposite of the recycling pick-up).
Customers requesting the curbside yard debris service will need to commit to at
least 12-months of yard debris service.
Yard debris includes lawn clippings, tree trimmings, brush,
prunings, sawdust, unpainted wood scraps, grass, leaves, Christmas trees, and
garden items such as apples, potato peelings, pumpkins, etc. Other items like
rocks, dirt, gravel, bricks, paper, plastic, sod, and food waste cannot be
disposed of in the yard debris cart. For additional information about this new
service,
please
contact Hudson Garbage Service by calling (503) 397-1534.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR TRASH AND RECYLE CANS AWAY AFTER PICKUPS!

LEASH LAW REMINDER
City ordinances state it is unlawful to intentionally, negligently or recklessly permit any animal to run at large upon any public street, highway, public place or private property owned by someone other than the owner or keeper of the animal. All animals are to be kept under complete control by the owner or such person by adequate leash.
Also, don't forget to clean up after your dog!

It's the law!
Residents are encouraged to report violations to help eliminate this problem.
THANK YOU
We'd like to extend a very special thank you to Alice Barchus, Gloria Chinell, Delores Heinz, Shelia Jackson, Barbara Jones, Phyllis Rowley, Helen Sandstrom and Amy West for helping with newsletters and utility bills in December.
