ORDINANCE NO. 08-651-O
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING WESTBOUND TRUCK
TRACTOR AND TRUCK TRAILER TRAFFIC ON "I" STREET BETWEEN THIRD STREET
AND HIGHWAY 30; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 07-636-O; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Columbia City Council
desires to create a 24-hour Quiet Zone at three railroad highway grade
crossings in Columbia City, Oregon; and,
WHEREAS, a Diagnostic Team consisting of
representatives from ODOT Rail Division, ODOT Highway Division, Portland &
Western Railroad, and the City of Columbia City met at the affected grade
crossings and identified safety concerns and mitigations; and,
WHEREAS, the Diagnostic Team recommended
westbound truck tractor and truck trailer traffic be prohibited on
"I" Street between Third Street and Highway 30.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Columbia
City ordains as follows:
Section 1. Definitions. As used
in this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires, words and phrases
shall have those definitions as set forth in ORS Chapter 801.
Section 2. [Westbound truck traffic prohibited.] "I" Street from Third Street to
Highway 30 shall be closed to westbound truck tractor and truck trailer
traffic.
Section 3. [Posting of signs.] The Public Works Department of the City of
Columbia City is hereby authorized and instructed to install the appropriate
signs prohibiting westbound truck tractor and truck trailer traffic on
"I" Street in that section described herein.
